1. Former Pistons assistant coach. 2. Well liked by Pistons management and the players that are still here when he was 3. Has done a good job bringing along the young players in Atlanta 4. Has current experience with giving young guys lots of minutes. If Flip goes there are four coaches that we might have a shot at hiring as our head coach that I would be happy with as a replacement for him. 1. Scott 2. Woodson 3. Curry 4. Lambs
If Phillip is fired at any point in the regular season, Terry Porter will be given the rest of the season to coach his way into the permanent job.
What did he do at Milwaukee to deserve to coach a great basketball franchise like the Pistons? You may be right but it appears to me that he is nowhere near as qualified as the other four other than he is on our staff right now and has head coaching experience whereas Curry doesn't. However, I don't think he is near the head coach that Woodson, Scott or Lambs are. Of course they may not be available next year.
If you're looking for someone that deserves to coach a great basketball franchise, perhaps these aren't the best candidates: Woodson's career coaching record: 69-177 Scott's career coaching record: 244-290 Laimbeer's career NBA coaching record: 0-0 Years as an NBA assistant: 0 Curry's career NBA coaching record: 0-0 Years as an NBA assistant: 0.1
You might want to look into each of these coaches in depth, beyond their career won and loss records as a coach, for to obtain an understanding of why either Woodson and even more so Scott would make an excellent coach for us. Woodson for one has had very little experienced talent at Atlanta and in fact he still doesn't have other than Johnson, any experienced talent at Atlanta.
I wonder if Woodson would jump at the opportunity to coach Pistons or if he'd want to see Atlanta's development through. He brought them to this point.
I would think that a new coach like him would want to cut his teeth a little more without the expectations of a Championship. Atlanta seems like a fun team to coach right now, because you could really make a difference.
Actually, if I had to pick someone out of Buddah's top four, I would take Scott or Woodson over someone with no NBA experience.
I'm really impressed with Woodson and ATL. The team looks extremely prepared for BOS, and their defensive schemes so far have been great. The only person hurting them is KG, but that's more of a match up problem.
