1. Absurd lack of consistency and lack of decisiveness. His endless lineup changes and arbitrary DNP's were idiotic and probably cost him a lot of respect by his team. 2. No guts in his relations with the vets. Felt he had to placate them regarding minutes and starter/bench status, and seemed to agonize over whether to bench Rip or AI. Also seemed to think that playing the vets (e.g., Sheed, Dice and Tay during the regular season, and an injured and wholly ineffective Tay in the playoffs) was the "safest" way to deflect criticism in a losing season. 3. Terrible end of game management in regular season games, as Tayshawn and others pointed out repeatedly in this forum. 4. Surprisingly, he exudes very little intelligence about the game during interviews. That is not just a matter of being inarticulate, because a person can be knowledgeable and smart without being articulate. It seems to go deeper than that.
MC should be held accountable. That was his goal with the players and it should apply to the coach too. I supported him coming in but he clearly failed.
I prefer to look at the road ahead rather than the rear view mirror. The mission ahead is utilizing the enormous amount of cap space that Joe has accumulated to renovate the roster. NOT firing Michael Curry will inhibit that process. The head-coaching position greatly influences a free agent's decision to sign or not sign with a given team. Michael Curry will have a negative effect on this process. To Joe's credit, he's always been good at recovering from his mistakes. I have no reason to believe that he won't recover from the "Michael Curry experiment".

Because his team was unable to adapt to change, pouted, refused to adjust, and gave up on the season. Curry is way down my list of folks to fire.
Is Horrible!!! HAS NO COACHING EXPERIENCE WHAT SO EVER! He didn't do squat last season, just yell at people. For holding people accountable, he sure sucks at it. Doesn't play Amir Johnson and Jason Maxiell. Just simply treated the players bad, and hurt someone's heart [strike]ego[/strike]. Doesn't think highly of using people while they are hot in the 4 QTR, and became YET another coach who loved the experience of McDyess and Sheed. Overplayed McDyess. Played Small Ball and sucked at it. Played Big Ball and sucked at it as well. Never let Fabio show his awesome hair [strike]on the court[/strike] too much. Earned a bad reputation throughout the league. Simply brought the Pistons from elites to bottom-feeders. Doesn't have his Xs and Os. Just a little white sheet of paper. Hates playing people who want to play. Did I mention he was horrible?
Weren't Mike Brown and Mike Woodson ex-Piston assistant coaches? Those two coaches are still in the play offs and I thought they were both assistants hear at one time? Give Laimbeer two years and we will see a huge turn-around in this franchise.
The # of close losses and 4th quarter meltdowns are directly attributed to Curry. The rest of the problems are at Dumars' feet. I think there is a false perception that a coach can better utilize the talent on this team and I'm not sure that is the case. This is a limited group. You have to be able to shoot (and really need to shoot over someone) to play here because they lack someone who can get their own shots, command double teams, get shots for someone else and tie the roster together. This trickles down the entire roster and prevents its' 75% role players from getting significant time. I don't know who to blame for the offense they run. That could be Curry but may be the players’ preferences also. It is entirely without purpose.
The players were poorly coached, for example the rebounding was horrible, barley boxed out...Didn't attack the paint like we should have...passing poorly...starting Tayshaun at power forward.......For wearing the Piston teal! CAN CURRY!!!
Looks like Curry is staying here next season Michael Curry meets with Dumars, says Pistons have to be more up-tempo | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press
If true, fantastic. We keep our terrible coach, and move closer to our goal to become the PHX Suns. Joe's lost it.
Fear not. Weren't we led to believe Flip would be staying shortly after he lost his 3rd straight ECF? I wish WDFN was still broadcasting interviews & press conferences.
If Joe decides to keep him, then we are possibly throwing away another season. You see what Stuckey said in the article I also notice the comments the reporter said about Sheed Mental breakdowns?? I wonder what he means by that and if he is on Sheed's X-mas list?
