Only 4 on this roster that I'm sure I want around, and one of them, Stuckey, has been such a malcontent this season that I'm not sure of him. Monroe Stuckey Daye JJ The fifth guy is White because he's an ubber-athlete and supposedly a great shooter too. I agree with sentiments that a guy with that super athleticism has got to be given a shot. I continue to believe that could be a heck of a good core group.
Gotta go with: Monroe JJ Daye Stuckey Wilcox Off the current roster. I was thinking of White instead of Wilcox but have no idea what kind of player he would be. I know these 5 could play together, they are young and each bring a little something to the table. If we were allowed to keep two more it would be a little more tricky to choose. I like the experience that T-Mac brings and his ability to play the 1 and the 3. Tay is what he is and I am just not sure what he is makes him worth keeping. Rip is a scorer but the offense has to revolve around him and his style for him to be effective which takes away from what others are able to do. CV can get hot and spread the floor but is a little scary defensively. I think this is Ben's last year seeing serious floor time. I do know that I would help Bengo, Max and Bynum pack if they asked me to. So who is totaling up the votes??
I count 26 voters so far Monroe 26 JJ 26 Daye 20 Stuckey 12 White 10 Wilcox 9 Bynum 6 Summers 4 Rip 3 Prince 2 2011 Draft 2 Jason Max 1 BenG 1 So I have CV, T-Mac, and BWallace with no votes
Our two big F/A's that we signed recently have 1 vote between them. That's not making a splash, that's making a splat.
An unknown rookie who has never logged a minute in the NBA is beating them by 9 votes. ...Hell, Ricky Davis only has one less vote than those two.
I will point out something I thought about this summer before White got hurt, and the team went to hell in a handbasket: IF (huge IF here) White can really play, then, his skillset as a guy who really wants to be a PG and is a great shooter and athlete, combines great on paper with Stuckey -- imagine two really big super strong interchangeable guards in the lineup. In that case, suddenly Bengo is the perfect third guard off the bench in that 3 guard rotation.
I almost view EVERY guard currently on the Pistons as having a somewhat equal value. We HAVE TO thin out the herd this Summer!!!
Hindsight being 20/20 and all, but is there any guard on our team that anybody wouldn't trade straight up for AA at this point? We have 5 guards I'd be happy in the 4th or maybe 3rd spot in the guard depth chart... but not sold on any being the long term answer at the 1st or 2nd slot for guards....
There are several combinations of Pistons guards that I'd trade for Spellcheck in a 2-for-1 scenario. Heck, a few of those situations sound even better than a straight-up player for player deal.
I like spellcheck, but I'd never trade Stuckey for him. Afflalo is a complimentary type player, nothing more. Stuckey is more than that - potentially much more, this season and his strange attitude notwithstanding.
Darko and SuperDupe have more votes between them than those two. And I was only half-joking when I listed them.
How much can you blame the coach for his play and how much is just the fact that Stuckey is what he is? When he has the great games I feel cheated, there to few and to far between. He has way to many issues with authorities and just doesn't get what it takes to be a good team, remember what team he thought was the best on paper this year? Between AA and Stuckey who has the chance to have the better game night in and night out.... Stuckey for sure. Who do I trust to have a good game night in and night out though? AA is going to bring what he has every night. I want to have consistent players on my team that I know what I am going to get and after 4 years the only thing for sure with Stuckey is we can't know for sure what he'll bring. less then half the forum have him as one of there top 5 I found that as a shock really. Only two more people want Stuckey back over White 12-10, thats just scarey. Now tell me that the change of coach and the change of makeup of the team going forward is going to bring out the best of Stuckey going forward and I'll jump on board with you, but its a reach to believe he's going to just flip the switch.... I'm tired of waiting on folks flipping switches.
I don't see that we have any choice but to hope Stuckey's attitude was a one season thing that won't be repeated. If he isn't the real deal, we've got no chance to be competitive for a lot of years, IMO.
