RC was fired on June 1st. Brown was fired on July 19th. Saunders was fired on June 3rd Curry was fired on July 1st I say Quester's job is safe for at least another two months. He's probably gone before the FA starts.
Yes, because the 2009 Pistons were clearly as good as the 2008 team. Stuckey just failed them. Right.
He's proven since the all star break that he is very capable of running the point. Sure, you may say sample size, but why is what he did two years ago relevant to what he is doing now or could do in the future? I think his play this season (extremely underrated I might add), and more to the point, his play in the second half, is indicative of the king of player he is developing into.
I'd say his play this season, especially in the second half, is indicative of the size of contract he's hoping for.
You make a valid point, and that's kind of the issue, because he closed out the season averaging 25.2/9.4 his last 5 games (again, small sample size, but those are really good numbers regardless of competition level). That was after he was benched, which makes one wonder if he responds better to tough love, or whether he just was looking for a payday. But that makes you wonder if (or why) he isn't capable of doing that all the time - especially if he thinks the team depends on him (they went 4-1 over their last 5). You could make the argument about his attitude, and I can't argue with that, as it seems to be getting worse every year. But he's not as bad a player as people are making him out to be, and if given the right coach, I suspect he could be as great a player as he was at the end of the season.
As a matter of principle I would severely underweight a player's performance in the second half of his contract year when evaluating him for a new contract.
If Stuckey had been able to sustain even 75% of the performance he displayed in the last 5 games throughout the entire season, I would be on his bandwagon big time. If we criticize Dumars for overpaying Gordon after one great playoff series, then we have no right to make the case for Stuckey based his performance during the 5 meaningless games at the end of a contract season. Stuckey is a starter caliber combo guard that's worth 6-7M per year at most. He's an above average player in the most abundant position in the NBA, and therefore one of the more easily replaceable players on the roster.
Stuckey is one of, if not, the best player on the team though. We should replace other players before we replace him.
You get no argument from me there. I think the team has more urgent needs. He's a good asset to have. I merely question his untouchable-ness. I just hope we don't overpay him.
She probably only wants to keep Monroe, JJ and Daye. Summers and Bynum are the two among the rest that she has the least objection to keeping I'm guessing. AG? Did I get that right?
