and the twins and chisox both won! i guess the series with the twins is going to be really big this weekend and it seems it couldn't come at a worse time between injuries, whatever led to Young's release, etc....

guy on the TV right now is laying it on Magglio's lack of extra base/run production in the second half (especially given Placido's long absence, and now Guillen's injury).

He did say however, that the percentages still favor the team with the best pitching and that this is the Tigers.

The Twins actually lost too to the Devil Rays 4-2 so the Tigers maintain the 4 game lead over them with four on tap this weekend. They just need a split to maintain that lead.

Still 18 games left to play after this weekend, Dre. A LOT can happen.

Re: tigers vs. angels

Interesting article about the Tigers from Sports Illustrated:

I am now, officially, worried about the Tigers. I'm sure that concerns the Tigers, that I'm losing sleep over their situation. I'm sure all the good, nail-biting fans in Motown really want to hear that I feel their pain too.
But somebody outside of Detroit has to worry. I mean, this four-game series against the Twins in Minneapolis that starts Thursday is huger than huge. It's a season-maker. Or a season-breaker. The damn Twins are only four back, for crying out loud. And the White Sox are only 4½ behind
The Tigers suddenly are losing games that they won so easily just a month ago. They're absolutely painful to watch at the plate. They're a little beat up, and their starters ... they're still good, aren't they, the starters?
Are the Tigers about to choke away the postseason?
Can things get any worse?
What's wrong?

And I thought I was the only nut who watched games that way!

Thank goodness they won. So Sox are about to lose too.

Tigers lose to the Twins 2-1, Robertson's good pitching goes to waste...

19 games to go and a 4-game lead in the WILD CARD race. That's how I'm looking at it.

Another 1 run loss which is the 8th in the last 22 losses. There have been eight 2 run losses too during this span so our batting is going to be our achilles heal and do us in even if we do hang on and make it to the post season.
