Detroit fans are truly blessed.

The Pistons, Shock, Red Wings and Tigers. All had a great year. Only the Shock finished it right, but you'll get no complaints from me.
Yeah, now its the Lions' turn!

But I wouldn't advise holding your breath.

Sports can be so painful. I feel depressed, discouraged, and empty right now.

Re: WORLD SERIES!!!!

Holy errors!!

Verlander- 1 earned run... and that was set up by an error. He did a great job after the 1st inning.

If this had been the Cubs, all anybody would be talking about is the curse. Glad we don't have that kind of baggage to deal with. Just a loss.

The key is getting back there in the next couple years with revenge on our minds.

Re: WORLD SERIES!!!!

The 2006 Tiger Saga (for those who weren't paying attention)

In April nobody thought about the Tigers, by June everyone was curious, by the all-star break, everyone was predicting they would collapse, and by August 8th or so they were 40 games over and people were starting to believe all over the USA.

Then the collapse, losing 31 out of 50 including their last 5 to close the season (3 to the worst team in baseball) and losing the division title on the last game of the season

The Tigers limped into the playoffs overwhelming underdogs and lose their first game to the Yanks and then win seven straight games over them and the A's and turn into overwhelming favorites in some circles to not win the series, but even sweep it!!

Seven day layoff kills momentum. Other than the Gambler, every Tiger pitcher has issues. Most are attributed to bad fielding by the pitchers that indirectly assisted in the Cards winning at least 2 or maybe even 3 of the 4 games.

The Card got the breaks and out hustled the Tigers in the field with timely base running and clutch hits. Defensively the Tiger errors & miscues killed them and offensively their bats stalled with the hero for the LCS Palanco was hitless, and the player who missed the LCS, Casey was the only Tiger player to solve the Cardinal pitchers. JL is still Manager of the year, but should he have started the Gambler in this elimination game?? We will think about that all winter.

The rain could have been a factor too as the pivotal game 4 was played on a partially wet field that led to sloppy play in the outfield. Who knows maybe one more day and a dryer field could have made a difference? We know Fox wanted to play those games ASAP and get out of this TV ratings disaster and get back to Prison Break, etal.. We know that the Fox announcers Buck and McCarver were high fiving each other after the last strikeout to win the game, but the cameras were trained on the celebration on the field...

It was good season for the Tiger fans as they brought hope for the future and more joy to a city already filled with recent champions in Shock, Pistons, and Red Wings

Thank you Tigers

Re: WORLD SERIES!!!!

Congrats to the Tigers for a good run. It is too bad that the second half of the season was so bad, but I thought that they had re-peaked at a good time, and I thought the addition of Sean Casey might put them over the top, but it was just not their year to go ALL the way.

They have such a great nucleus of young players and such a good mix of young and also experienced players that they should be able to make a good run for another couple of years before retooling.

It is ironic that their pitching which was so good paved the way for their downfall. They pitched very well but could not field their positions during some very important stages. I am sure they will be working on that come spring.

Overall, noone expected them to go so far and they very nearly went all the way. They were argueably the second best team in baseball.

And that ain't all bad!!

Excellent analysis Dre... this has been a great experience for the club... they know they can compete with any team... just a little tweaking needed (left handed hitters)... lots to be proud of
