Seems like all of Miller's pitches were up in the strike zone. I hope the kid doesn't get too down on myself. That's not needed at this juncture of his career.

Pretty good news that the Tiger's bullpen went 8.3 shutout innings.

Sheff says he isn't hurt that bad, maybe?
Rogers is throwing again, but not sure of pitch location yet.

You mean 8.1 shutout innings. In pitching statistics, the "dot" between the 8 and the 1 is a "thirds point", not a decimal (tenths) point.

Offense has gone in a shell again. As we were worried Tigers scored this week's runs in one gama against Yanks. This is getting more difficult by day. Now 4.5 games back.

The Official Site of The Detroit Tigers: Official Info: Press Release

Quote:
The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has acquired right-handed pitcher Chris Lambert from the St. Louis Cardinals as the player to be named later to complete the trade on June 22 in which left-handed pitcher Mike Maroth was sent to the Cardinals. Lambert will be assigned to Triple-A Toledo.

Lambert saw action with both Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis in the Cardinals system in 2007. In five starts with Springfield, he compiled a 0-2 record and 3.42 ERA (26.1IP/10ER). Lambert finished 1-4 with a 7.49 ERA (57.2IP/48ER) in 28 appearances (four starts) with Memphis. A first-round selection by St. Louis in the 2004 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, Lambert has compiled a 22-26 record and 5.10 ERA (386.2IP/219ER) in 94 outings (70 starts) during his professional career.

Re: TIGERBEAT presented by Stroh's

Tigers' Miller demoted to Lakeland

Quote:
The Tigers on Thursday sent rookie left-hander Andrew Miller to their Lakeland, Fla., instructional camp in an attempt to re-align a 22-year-old prospect whose pitches and psyche had all gotten out of whack in recent starts.
The Tigers also recalled right-hander Virgil Vasquez from Triple-A Toledo. He will start Friday night's game against the Athletics in Oakland.
Additionally, the Tigers on Saturday will bring up Toledo pitchers Jose Capellan and Yorman Bazardo, as well as infielders Omar Infante and Mike Hessman. All have been with the Tigers at different times this season. Major league active rosters are permitted to expand on Sept. 1 from their customary 25-man limit.
Miller was 5-5 in 13 starts for the Tigers but had run into control problems in recent appearances. In Thursday night's 5-0 loss to the Royals, he lasted only two-thirds of an inning, allowing all five Royals runs.
"We rolled the dice, and it's obvious that he needs more time," said Tigers manager Jim Leyland. "I think Andrew Miller is going to be an outstanding pitcher in the Tigers rotation for a long time. When that happens, I don't know. But I think this kid will be a lights-out pitcher for a long time."
Vasquez, who has appeared in two earlier spot-start assignments for the Tigers, will replace Chad Durbin as Friday night's starter. Leyland's decision was based on the potential need for Durbin as a long reliever in the bullpen.

Re: TIGERBEAT presented by Stroh's

Can the Tigs salvage one game from this KC series? Can Bondo get through the first without giving up runs? Questions and more questions for Tigers.

Re: TIGERBEAT presented by Stroh's

One more time Tigers can't get a clucth hit and leave runners on 1st and 3rd in the 1st inning. Time for Bondo to perform.
