2007/2008 Tigers Offseason News

Maybin hurts shoulder slightly

Quote:
Tigers prospect Cameron Maybin left an Arizona Fall League game Monday afternoon with a slight left shoulder strain, according to his agent, Bob Baratta.
Maybin sustained the injury while swinging a bat, Baratta said.
It’s not known whether he will resume playing this week.

Club officials intended for Maybin to get more regular at-bats in the AFL than he did during his six weeks in Detroit at the end of the year. Now, it appears the promising 20-year-old could lose some developmental time due to the injury. During the regular season, he missed about one month with a partial dislocation of his other shoulder.

For the first time Tuesday, baseball general managers recommended instant replay be used to help umpires make close calls.
The recommendation, by a 25-5 vote, was limited to boundary calls -- whether potential home runs are fair or foul, whether balls go over fences or hit the top and bounce back, and whether fans have interfered with a possible homer.
ESPN - GMs vote for use of instant replay for HR calls - MLB

Finally! How many of those calls were messed up by the umps?

Polanco has deserved his, that's for sure. As far as Pudge, his reputation has lots to do with it. He's not the same catcher he used to be, but he's still quite good.

Re: 2007/2008 Tigers Offseason News

I think Granderson should have won one. I'm not a big fan of the Gold Glove award. I like the award itself, but not how winners are chosen.
