Tom Gage / The Detroit News

The team that just keeps getting, whether it's the holidays or not, has gotten what it wanted again -- an extra year out of newcomer Dontrelle Willis.
Agreeing to a three-year contract on Thursday for $29 million, a move that takes the 25-year-old left-hander one year past his first season of free-agent eligibility, Willis has become a mainstay of the Tigers' rotation even before his first pitch.

Re: Tigers sign Dontelle to a 3 Year Deal

Mikhail actually mentioned this over on the Cabrera thread, but I'm fine with it being a separate thread so I'll comment on it here.

Seems like a good move. The Tigers need to figure out what went wrong with his mechanics. I've heard others say the guy was just overworked in Fla. I think the guy comes out of Lakeland as Detroit's No. 2 guy after Verlander. Prediction:

1. Verlander
2. Willis
3. Bonderman
4. Rogers
5. Robertson

I don't think this rotation strikes fear into too many A.L. lineups, and I'd much rather have three righties and two lefties. That's why I didn't want them to re-sign Rogers. And if they sign Robertson to a long-term deal, which is what he's asking for, they're nuts.

Willis was getting dirt for pay back in FLA. Last I heard. Rogers makes about $10M per, and Willis my be better.
Hope Rogers gets durable because I don't trust Bondo. Rogers is way better.
