Jammer is tied for first place right now, if you haven't noticed. Afraid of a little competition?

I'm holding out so someone else can play if they like.

How come TaS never gets in on this stuff?

Re: PF.com Fantasy Baseball 2008

There are certain things in life that I purposely restrict myself from doing because I know that I would get really into them. Fastasy <anything> and sports betting are both included in that.

If I did anything like this, it would be NBA fantasy, because I wouldn't have to familiarize myself with so many players. Baseball, Hockey, and Football have so many players that I don't know that I would be lost.

Hey Eskimo boy...I left you a message on the league page.

Roscoe, people are questioning your manhood (well, moreso than usual). Join the damned league Cannuckian!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is Woody and Winless? I don't think they know about this and it's filling up fast.

I was going to sit out because I am not good at Fantasy Baseball so all of you sharks can have at each other. If you just need another person to fill up the league then I will join and try not to stink up the place.

If you have the time and you get enjoyment out of it its possible to be successful despite not knowing any players (or the game for that matter)

I prefer fantasy Bball just because its my fav sport, I've played it longest and already know all the players, but last season I played fantasy Football and Baseball for the first time. Both were sports I didn't know anything about (being Australian) and I had heard of perhaps 3 players in both sports. But just being a stats junkie can get you a long way (in Baseball in particular). I hardly even bothered with following the sport outside of fantasy but still managed to do pretty well.
Football I got into a lot more and ended up following the league as well.

Baseball is probably one of the easier fantasy sports to play first time without knowing any players or anything. And its weekly lineups as well. Just my 2 cents.

Very well put. I agree with Webz.

I'll add that while there is a certain advantage to knowing the players it also works against you at times because of preconceived notions an owner might have. In essence, you may take a player or ignore a player due to familiarity, while just looking at the stats would lead you to a better decision. This seems to have happened to me a lot in my sophmore seasons.

We'll definitely miss seeing both of you guys if you choose to opt out.

Exactly!!! I thought I had a pretty good handle on NHL players and I am now fighting for the 9th spot, and it's not looking good.
On the other hand, I ended up autodrafting (not by choice I might add - here come the comments) in my basketball league, and now I am fighting for the 1st spot.

Re: PF.com Fantasy Baseball 2008

Okay, two things from the Commissioner:

(1) We need one more sucker manager to join our league. Let me know if you want in.

(2) I have tentatively set the draft date for Sunday, March 9 at 4:00 pm EDT. This is two weeks from yesterday. Yeah, I know. Baseball season starting already?

It seems like Sunday afternoons/evenings have had the fewest conflicts for previous fantasy drafts. March 2 seemed a little early. The Pistons play the Bulls at 8pm on Sunday, March 9 so I choose a 4:00 pm draft time.

Please let me know if you have a conflict with this date/time.
