| Re: TIGERS 08 SEASON THREAD Quote:
last season I paid $14.95 to hear the audio and in 2006 I was able to tap into radio stations from all over the country via my computer to follow the tigers march to the works series. Thiose same stations switch to MLB Audio last year. |

Probably didn't help his case by throwing the bat and heading to first without the call being made, umps hate being "shown up" and he was in the umps face so fast it was the easy call. Can't argue balls and strikes no matter what. The announcers mentioned something about him being frustrated over something that happened in the previous half inning that i missed. |

| Re: TIGERS 08 SEASON THREAD I personally disagree with the commonly held philosophy that the umps should add their own "flavor" to the game. It would be like a tennis line judge adding his flavor. It's either in or it's out. In baseball, it's either a strike or it's not. It is so easy to define and would be fairly easy to implement an electronic strike zone, that I can't believe it's not happening. They already have the technology to trace the ball's trajectory and can show you where it is at any point in time. The left to right part of the strike zone is the easy part to define, because it is the same with each hitter. The low to high part of the zone would be a little more complicated, but still very do-able. Each player would be fitted when they join the MLB and their strike zone would be entered into the system. So, when Marcus Thames steps up to the plate, the computer would know that his strike zone extends from 18" off the ground to 40". There would be a virtual box floating above the plate and the pitcher would either throw the ball through those coordinates or he would miss. You'd still have the homeplate ump to make the call and he would wear an ear piece that would signal when the pitch hits the strike zone. To a fan, there would be no difference. To a pitchers, batters, and managers, they would all realize that arguing is futile. It's the one part of the game that is slightly riggable and it could be eliminated tomorrow. What a pure sport it would be (except for the steroid thing...).

| Re: TIGERS 08 SEASON THREAD Tigers win in the bottom of the 10th inning on a walk-off-walk. 3-2. The keep up their winning ways of taking 2 of 3 vs the NL. Over all 9/12 and then add the Sox sweep that is 12 of 15. |

Need to keep it up. It would also help to win the first game of the series. |

They are like the Pistons...don't turn it on until they get behind one game ...then they win the series... So that's six series in row right?Last edited by LA Dre : 06-26-2008 at 05:56 PM. |
