I try not to do it but I find myself watching the games and seeing plays that Inge could have made at third if he were there.
Inge is sort of like the Delfino of the Tigers. He's a great defender. His offense is potent, but inconsistent. His versitility allows him to play multiple positions.

As far as the win being "great" or not... they were jumping around the field like they just won the World Series, so I think it was an emotional win at least. Call it a confidence builder since they were able to come back in the 9th against a very good team.

Re: TIGERS 08 SEASON THREAD

5-7-08
TIGERS 10, SOX 9

We were Polanco away from season being over. That was a terrible win. You cant lose TWO 4-run leads and be a playoff team. The Central dv is there for the taking but we have to be 10 games over .500 by Allstar break.

All egos aside, here's our best lineup:

CF- GRANDY
2B- POLANCO
1B- CABRERA
RF- ORDONEZ
DH- GUILLEN
LF- THAMES
SS- RENTERIA
C- PUDGE
3B- INGE

and if JL dont get that, he needs to go. Shef needs to be treated like the 40 yr old that he is.

I would like to try this order for 10 games. Let's see if we can jump start the bats and tighten the defense. These are our best players though. We are not a running team so if Polanco can get on base we may be able to take advantage of Grandersons power early.

It's the pitching.

You always come on and say this after they score 5 or more runs. What was the excuse last week when starting pitching is keeping teams to four runs and we score 1?

How many runs are the pitchers allowed to give up?

Re: TIGERS 08 SEASON THREAD

We have the 2nd highest ERA in baseball.

We've allowed 194 runs and the only team worse is Texas, with 195.

Our division leading Twins have allowed 138 runs.

So, we've given up 41% more runs than they have.

Atlanta has only given up 120 runs, so we've given up 62% more than them.

If the pitching doesn't drastically change, we are destined to lose in the playoffs even if we somehow out-hit eveyone in our division. We would be like the Phoenix Suns.

Re: TIGERS 08 SEASON THREAD

It might be over...
Justin V is not competitive and for sure not dominant.
Couple that with Rogers weak shoulder and we are .530 at best.
See ya next year.

Re: TIGERS 08 SEASON THREAD

Verlander is 1-6 with a 6.43 ERA. He's supposed to be our ace. Looks like he's having his sophomore slump a year too late.

This team has alread trotted 17 pitchers out there this season and it's only about a month and a half into the season.

Re: TIGERS 08 SEASON THREAD

Just doesn't look good. Maybe the Tigers should look into bringing Barry Bonds in, contrary to common sense? He would take spotlight away from others and make them uncomfortable.
